HDMI, The new standards

With the introduction of the new HDMI standard, the old 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 designations disappear. The new name for the different HDMI standards are:

• Standard HDMI
• Standard HDMI to Ethernet
• HDMI Standard Automotive
• High Speed HDMI
• High Speed HDMI with Ethernet

Standard HDMI and High Speed HDMI are the same as the old HDMI 1.3 standard, offering speeds of 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps. The other cables are the new HDMI 1.4 cables and aside from the 5 and 10 Gbps speeds, they offer an Ethernet channel and improved bandwidth. This new standard offers many advantages over the earlier standards due to the improved bandwidth.

New generation of cables

The new Ethernet channel enables your equipment to exchange data. This addition is a response to the expectations that over 25% of future consumer electronics will need an internet connection. All game consoles and media players will connect to the internet and three quarters of the PVR/DVR’s will offer networking possibilities. With the new HDMI cables you are able to connect al your equipment to the internet via your TV. This means significantly less cables and makes connecting all your equipment much easier.

In addition, the new standard includes an upstream audio channel which makes the cable between your TV and receiver redundant.

3D TV and even better picture

3D technology is very popular in the cinemas, but now you can enjoy 3D movies from the comfort of your own home. The new HDMI cables are fully prepared for this technology, which is a major step forward in bringing 3D movies and games to your living room.

The improved bandwidth is also capable of transmitting much higher resolutions. The old HDMI standard can handle max. 1080p, but HDMI 1.4 offers a maximum resolution of 4K x 2K, 400% more then 1080p. With this new resolution, you’ll have a similar quality as the most modern digital cinemas.

Thanks to the enormous throughput, the colour palette is also significantly improved. This can especially be seen when, for example, a digital camera is connected. The colours on your HDTV will be as vivid and natural as the real thing.

Wide range

HQ is one of the first to offer a wide range of affordable High Speed HDMI with Ethernet cables. The range consists of the standard HDMI cable, HDMI cable with flat connectors, HDMI to Mini HDMI and HDMI to Micro HDMI cables. All cables are available in various lengths and against a very attractive price setting.
